In Lavender Dahlia’s third episode, we discovered similarities between St. Patrick’s legend and our own legacies.
I mentioned that earlier this year while the kids and I were in Northern Ireland, Michael took us to Down Cathedral, where it’s believed that St. Patrick’s remains are buried.
St. Patrick was born in Britain, but was taken captive at the age of 16 and sold as a slave to Ireland where he worked as a shepherd for six years. He escaped Ireland and returned to Britain, but later returned to the country of his captors after a dream convinced him that he was to bring the Good News of Jesus to their country.
St. Patrick is credited for bringing Christianity to Ireland with the majority of his evangelizing being done in the northern half of the country.
The legend of St. Patrick sounds incredibly difficult to parallel, but the truth is that we are living and creating our own legends of faith, just as he did.
